The list of benefits and advantages of the cannabis compound, CBD, seems to keep growing. Recently, studies suggested that cannabidiol or CBD, a compound produced by the cannabis plant has the potential to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection. A survey of real-world patients taking prescribed CBD found a “significant” negative relationship between CBD consumption and COVID-19 infection.
Before you go light up your next joint, it’s necessary to clarify that smoking marijuana does not protect you from COVID-19. Sorry! However, this news is still significant in the war against the virus. Scientists and doctors are working tirelessly to find new and novel ways to combat the infection and its symptoms, and in doing so might have stumbled across a groundbreaking development.
When taken in the right way and in the right amount, the non-psychoactive compound acts as a blocker, inhibiting and reversing many effects of the COVID virus. It has also been observed that cannibidiolic acid—or CBD-A, the precursor molecule to CBD, when heated—prevented the entry of the coronavirus into isolated human cells. If that’s too technical, what it essentially means is that the molecule acts as a guard at the gate, keeping unwanted visitors (like the virus) out, thereby keeping you (the host) safe!
It may be early to fully understand and implement an effective treatment plan for COVID-19 using CBD alone, yet, these studies give us a beacon of hope. In the past, CBD has proven to provide pain relief, stress relief and as effective medicine for arthritis. Perhaps COVID-19 and its symptoms can be avoided or treated with the use of CBD oil too. Wouldn’t that be a welcome respite?
However, doctors have warned not to consider CBD or its derivatives as an alternate to vaccines and to continue following preventative measures like wearing a mask and social distancing while outside.
We’ll keep following the research and see where it takes us, remaining cautiously optimistic for our collective futures.

Introduce this powerful product into your arsenal and reap its many benefits.
Hot flashes, mood swings, cramps in the abdomen and sharp lightning-bolt pains down your back sound familiar? You’re probably going through your monthly period. No amount of chocolates and hot water bottles can shake the feeling of a low black cloud hanging over your days.
Did you know that over 90% of women say they experience similar premenstrual symptoms? Not that that’s supposed to make you feel any better. But it is a staggering number of women who share the same problem. What’s even more significant is that one in five Indian women suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder that can have serious impacts on a woman’s health. PCOS is known to cause fertility issues, unwanted male-pattern hair growth and other complications due to an imbalance in a woman’s hormones.
Of course, seeking medical help is the right thing to do if you suspect you might have PCOS too. However, most often, women tend to overlook this issue since it isn’t life-threatening. We chalk it up to a poor lifestyle, bad eating habits or stress (all of which are contributors) and delay getting the help we need. In the case of PCOS, hormone regulation can alleviate some of the negative effects of the disease or syndrome.
Recently, there has been a lot of interest in studying the role of cannabidiol (CBD) oil in restoring hormone imbalances. It’s able to do so by acting on the endocannabinoid system, responsible for regulating various processes in the body. A human being’s endocannabinoid system regulates things like stress, mood, fertility, pain and immune function, and it can be stimulated by CBD, a cannabinoid produced by the hemp plant. Essentially, the CBD found in hemp plants can act on your own endocannabinoid system to influence major hormones like cortisol, serotonin and insulin. They can increase your pain-bearing capacity and decrease chronic pain.
Along with PCOS, CBD oil can also be effective in helping women with endometriosis and dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) in a similar way. Simply put, CBD blocks some of your pain receptors, thereby giving you relief from those terrible cramps and shooting pains that leave you curled in your bed in the foetal position. Hemp-based CBD products also regulate the secretion of cortisol, more commonly known as the stress hormone, giving you relief from prolonged anxiety and tension. Another popular benefit of using CBD oil is pain relief. Using the oil can increase your pain-bearing capacity and decrease chronic pain.
CBD oil is a naturally occurring substance so its effects are noticed gradually over time. Remember that while CBD oil is potent and powerful, it isn’t a miracle cure that will make your pain disappear overnight. It’s important to use your CBD products for a sustained period of 2-6 months in order to feel any results. Who knows, you might just discover a new way to fight those gloomy period blues!
